LEADERSHIP: EMPOWERING PEOPLE

Much has been written about leaders empowering their direct reports to do their best and achieve ever more challenging results. What is missed by many of these writers is that empowerment begins with development. The more effectively a person is developed, the faster the organization will actually experience the benefits of empowered employees.
Twelve O'Clock High

This workshop works especially well with managers and their teams, and with individual contributors as leaders. This program has been broken down into a sequence of workshops for organizations that want to more deeply implement the concepts. The film normally used in this workshop is Twelve O'clock High or The Karate Kid.

All respected leaders talk about the ongoing need to develop the skills and talents of their people. Competitive challenges from the outside, coupled with challenges created from transformational changes occurring inside the organization, require ongoing employee development.

This workshop is based on the traditional Hersey/Blanchard "Situational Leadership®" model. What is unique about Prism's training is the focus on the skill set of "task-defining." Although all Situational Leadership® training emphasizes the task-specific nature of good leadership, none have adequately addressed the skills of defining tasks clearly and appropriately.

Empowering others is based on the practical tools of assessing the abilities and willingness of individuals (and teams) task-specifically. Based on accurate assessments, the process of empowerment then becomes a matter of providing the proper levels of direction, support, and opportunity to experience success using new skills and abilities.

Practical skills on how to develop others in an efficient manner is the objective of this workshop. Additionally, a powerful feature of this workshop is applying the model inward, to participants themselves. Understanding how to apply Situational Leadership to oneself, as well as how to use it to develop and influence up, down, and across in the organization, is true empowerment. The result is knowing when to lead and when to follow.
